Simple Role Playing Games - By Jon Salway

One of my favourite Simple Tabletop Roleplaying Games (rpgs) is called 'Bean!' the d2 roleplaying game. Why d2? Because you use two sided dice to play the game with. Yes, that's right, two sided dice. How do you make or use a two sided dice? You use dried beans of course! One side of the bean is marked with a cross, the other side left blank. When you toss the bean dice some will show cross, some will not. Thus two sided dice. In keeping with the spirit of beans, the 'characters~ that people that the players pretend to be in the game, are bean shaped vegetable people living on a planet without animal life. All of the creatures the players meet are sentient plant based animals.
The game is great fun as your bean people explore a pseudo medieval world populated with bean monsters, wizards and heroic warriors. It was designed by Jeff Freels who is an artist and game designer famous for his work on one of the oldest roleplaying games, Tunnels and Trolls. Jeff is an extremely talented and unusual artist as he is registered blind. He has very limited vision and cannot see all of any of the drawings he makes all at the same time.
